I don’t know how to answer how many tattoos I have anymore.
I got my first tattoo shortly after turning 18. My Mom was against it and Dad paid for it as a birthday gift. Ah, the joys of recently divorced parents! It was the kanji for tranquility in the centre of my back. I picked it at the shop because I thought it was something I needed more of. (It was also well before white people getting kanji tattoos was a thing). The tattoo itself looked fine, but the artist was so heavy-handed that it scarred so you can feel it like an embossing on my back. Covered.
My second tattoo was a Celtic-knot star between my shoulderblades. It was a good idea but done at the same place as the first and poorly executed. Covered.
Third tattoo is the kanji wish/desire on my upper left arm. Fourth tattoo is a butterfly landing on the kanji. Considering a cover-up
Fifth tattoo was a lotus blossom with the kanji lotus (sensing a theme here?) just high enough so that it wasn’t quite a tramp-stamp. Covered.
Sixth tattoo is three Egyptian-style lotus blossums on my right ankle. Considering a cover-up.
Seventh tattoo was the goddess Isis/Aset down from my left shoulder blade to mid-back. Covered.
Eighth tattoo is a stylized Valkyrie on my left calf. I like this one and I’m keeping it!
Ninth tattoo are my dogs on my right forearm. Another that I’m keeping; I just got it in 2018.
And my tenth tattoo is my Prince Stolas backpiece that starts just under my neck and goes down to my tailbone. It covers all of the tattoos on my back. I will get a photo of it once it’s finished. As of now (January 2019) I have about 6 hours of work left on it. It will be close to 40 hours of work once it’s done.
