About Laurie

Laurie Geenen is a long-time dabbler in fiction who is fascinated by all the ways the world can end. This can be traced back to receiving National Geographic as a child; specifically after reading the article Chernobyl – One Year After in the May 1987 volume. Along with nuclear holocausts and winter other fascinating endings are pandemics, zombie apocalypse, a slow the end of oil, resource scarcity, global recession, and climate change.

Her writing career started early; her preferred media were paper bags and her bedroom wall where she scrawlled her favourite word repeatedly: f(complete with superfluous umlat).

She is a lifelong resident of Greater Vancouver, BC where she lives with her husband, dog, and motorcycles.

Laurie was a student of Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Creative Writing program.
