There have been a lot of changes for me since I last posted –ย all of it good!
At the beginning of June we took a roadtrip to see Paul’s family in Kelowna on our way to Kaslo to pick up our new Labrador puppy from the breeder. We stayed one night at Ainsworth Hotsprings. I used to go there with my family in the summers we spent in Nelson. The pool areas were almost the same as 30 years ago; except the caves are now lit and you don’t have to dodge bats inside. Knowing that it would be a long haul back home from Kaslo with a puppy we detoured to my parent’s place in Tulameen.
Purcell’s Jovial Explorer “Juno” was born on April 1st. She’s an English Lab, much stockier than Bender was. Aside from a crocodile-shark stint at four months she’s been a very easy puppy. She loves water and retrieving, and is doing well in her training. She’s a lapdog, but more independant than Bender. She has some personality traits that are similar to Maggie, but she is definately her own dog.
I also started a new job in mid-July. I finally got the opportunity to join a start-up at the beginning; a great opportunity to put together customer success from the start and make my own mistakes. The product is cool, and really makes a difference to people and the team is super smart and committed. The customers are amazing; whenever I have the chance to speak with them I always learn a lot and we connect well. There are growing pains typical of a company our size, but we’re always able to come together to fix issues and overcome challenges. It feels good to work for a company with a purpose.
I’m working 100% remotely, as the company is located in Toronto. This means that we’ve been talking about accellerating our plans to move out of Greater Vancouver. We haven’t settled on a location other than we’re staying in BC.
