I saw the surgeon for the last follow up this morning. (That isn’t my x-ray in the image. Thanks, Unsplash!)
At our first consult he told me that it would take a year to get mobility back in my hand and wrist and that it would never be 100%. After six weeks he expected that the pain would be gone, but I wouldn’t have much mobility back. He referred me for physiotherapy which I started the following week.
Each time I’ve gone in for a physio checkup I’ve been able to increase the strengthening and mobility exercises. The pain went away quickly; the joint just gets fatigued easily. That will get better with time and continued physio.
This morning the surgeon said that my mobility today is where he esitmated I’d be a year from now; it’s healing well! π₯³ I should continue to see incremental increases in strength and endurance for the next year.
